CTC Global, a US-based corporation introduced the ACCC® conductor in 2004 to address the challenge of increasing transmission line capacity. It has since been deployed in numerous projects worldwide, spanning over 140,000 km and supported by over 250 utilities in more than 60 countries. The innovative ACCC® (Aluminium Conductor Composite Core) technology, which offers superior strength and lightness. This technology has been primarily used to enhance power transfer capacities in transmission and distribution lines. The ACCC® conductor incorporates aerospace technology and materials science to create a lightweight yet strong core that can carry 25% more conductive aluminum without any weight or diameter penalty. By using ACCC conductors, line losses can be reduced by up to 40%, capacity can be increased up to two times compared to traditional conductors, and thermal sag can be significantly minimized, thus avoiding grid failure.
