Case – Building Settlement Issue belongs to Colombo Municipal Council. (CMC) (Solid Waste & Electricity Depot Building – Colombo 13)
Challange - Resolving Settlement Issues of a building belongs to Municipal Council at Colombo 13
Ceylon Energy is pleased to announce the successful resolution of settlement issues and cracks in a building belonging to the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) located at premises No. 01, George R. De Silva Mawatha, Colombo 13. This accomplishment was made possible through our collaboration with the CMC and the main contractor, Darington Construction (Pvt) Ltd.
After conducting a thorough geotechnical investigation, it was determined that the subsurface conditions of the site consisted of loose sand layers up to a depth of 6.0 meters. While the initial recommendation suggested the use of micro piles, the CMC faced site restrictions and cost constraints that prompted us to explore alternative solutions.
Ceylon Energy proposed an innovative approach utilizing CHANCE Helical piles SS200/RS4500 instead of micro piles. We are proud to announce that our alternate rectification proposal, which involved the installation of 16 helical piles, successfully provided the necessary loading capacity. Furthermore, this solution was implemented in just a quarter of the original project timeline and resulted in an impressive cost reduction of 30%.
Through the adoption of helical piles, the Solid Waste and Electrical Depots Building underwent a successful stabilization process, effectively mitigating settlement issues and preventing the development of structural cracks. This achievement serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Colombo Municipal Council and Darington Construction (Pvt) Ltd for their collaboration and support throughout this project. Ceylon Energy remains dedicated to continuing our efforts in providing sustainable and efficient solutions for building settlement challenges in the future.
